This was conceived from a live life-drawing session featuring three of the best art models in the business.
I am huge fan of horror and some of the poses put me in mind of the brides of Dracula. The title itself comes from a quote from the book, and film. when he is referring to wolves howling in the night. There is beauty in that moment, even though some may find it unsettling or terrifying.
The piece, part of my 'Blood is the Life' series. explores the relationship between romance and death, examining how attraction and mortality can become closely intertwined.
‘Blood is the Life’ as mentions takes direct inspiration from Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula and the 1992 Francis Ford Coppola movie adaptation that still stands, in my opinion, as the most accurate take on the original text. I'm particularly interested in the way gothic narratives present love as something that exists alongside danger, transformation, and loss. These ideas encourage me to confront my own response to themes such as blood and death, not only as sources of fear but also as symbols that carry emotional and psychological meaning.
