The piece, part of my 'Blood is the Life' series. explores the relationship between romance and death, examining how attraction and mortality can become closely intertwined.

Washing your hands of something can be seen as not taking responsibility or saying that you're not at fault. In the painting, the hands are 'clean' but the rest of the painting, depicted through deep reds and dark tones maintains that none of us are completely without sin.
